Specifying raw materials and processes that meet stringent U.S. and European environmental standards, NEVER sourcing from clear cut or unmanaged forests.
Lodgi ensures that your floor will perform to it's maximum potential, meeting your expectations of performance and durability. You can rest assured, that our floor made from immature forests will provide a disappointing experience for your flooring investment.
Lacey Act Compliance
In 2008, the U.S. Congress passed the Lacey Act prohibiting the import of illegally harvested wood and wood products into the United States. This groundbreaking legislation set a precedent for the global trade in wood flooring and other wood related products. This law leads the way in supporting other countries' efforts to govern their own natural resources and ensures that only legally logged timber for flooring is sold into the United States. The Lacey Act puts in place powerful incentives for timber producing countries such as China, Russia, and Honduras to trade in wood products that come from legally logged sources or risk paying huge penalties. All products sold by Lodgi, are Lacey Act compliant.
Creating better indoor air quality
Lodgi floor meet the European E0/E1 Standard, a strict test that measures the amount of formaldehyde in a product. Formaldehyde is found in the glues and adhesives used to make floors, but Lodgi specifies low formladehyde content in all of its floors to exceed health standards established in the United States, Europe, Korea and Japan. 100% formaldehyde-free products are our ultimate goal.
California Air Resources Board (CARB) requirements for formaldehyde emissions
The state of California, in an effort to create a healthier breathing environment, has enacted new limits for formaldehyde emitted from composite wood products, including hardwood flooring. Prior to January 2009, 0.20 parts per million emission of formaldehyde was permitted. Beginning January 2009, 0.18 ppm became the standard with final limits in place by 2012 at 0.09 ppm. The California Air Resources Board (CARB), a department of the California Environmental Protection Agency, reviewed and implemented the new acceptable rating and is often the reference for this new standard. All products sold by Lodgi could be CARB compliant and please check with the sales of the difference .
Promoting Green Flooring
Lodgi is a member of the FSC Chain Of Custody Standard and also the China Green Materials Labeling Certificate. Lodgi product contribute to using FSC products or Green Materials Labeling productions. Through our own example, Lodgi promotes the FSC products not only for new construction, but in the remodeling of existing buildings to lessen their environmental impact.
Over 80% of the material in our products is made from residual wood. The residual wood waste is generated from renewable wood species in sawmills that surround our production facility so that the transportation of raw materials is minimized. Being a vertically integrated producer also means that we produce the core-board and laminate flooring under one roof, which further reduces the amount of transportation necessary to ship raw materials. We're also proud to make available some of the most realistic reproductions of exotic wood floors, which we can only hope will lead to a reduction in the harvesting of rare and exotic trees as flooring consumers choose a realistic, environmentally friendly alternative over the real thing.
We have developed innovative methods to reduce our impact on the environment. One example is our recycling of wood-waste such as dust and particles created during the laminate flooring production process. This waste is a very efficient fuel so instead of disposing of it we use it to heat our manufacturing equipment, plant and offices. This allows us to recycle up to 16,000 tonnes of wood-waste per year are in an environmentally friendly and efficient manner.
